Find your fit using the jacket and body measurement charts below, in inches or centimeters, sized from XS through 4XL. Not sure where to start? The right size is the one that matches your Body Measurements below, not the finished jacket dimensions – see How to Measure for the difference. If you fall outside this range or want an exact fit, custom sizing is available at no extra charge through our custom order form or by contacting us.

Body Measurements – Centimeters (recommended fit)

How to Measure

“Jacket Measurements” above describe the finished garment; “Body Measurements” describe you. Match your own measurements to the Body Measurements chart – that’s the one that tells you what size to order.

Chest / Bust Measure around the fullest part of your chest, keeping the tape parallel to the floor.

Waist Measure around your natural waistline, keeping the tape snug but not tight.

Shoulder Measure from the edge of one shoulder to the edge of the other, across your back.

Full Arm Length Measure from the shoulder point down to the wrist bone, with your arm slightly bent.

Worked Examples

  • Male example: at 5’10” and 165 lbs, with a 43″ (109 cm) chest, 37″ (94 cm) waist, and 25.5″ (65 cm) sleeve, Large is generally the right fit.
  • Female example: at 5’5″ and 135 lbs, with a 34″ (86 cm) bust, 31″ (79 cm) waist, and 24″ (61 cm) sleeve, Medium is generally the right fit.

Finding Your Fit

What size varsity jacket should I get?

Match your chest, waist, shoulder, and sleeve measurements to the Body Measurements chart above and order the closest size – most people order their normal jacket size, sizing up only if they plan to wear heavy layers underneath.

Between two sizes?

Size up. Varsity and letterman jackets are traditionally worn with a classic, slightly relaxed fit rather than skin-tight, so when you’re between sizes the larger option almost always looks and feels more true to the style.

Does the fit differ between varsity, letterman, and satin jacket styles?

The core body measurements are consistent across all three, since they share the same base silhouette. Satin styles run slightly lighter and closer to the body due to the thinner shell fabric.

Will the wool or leather stretch or shrink over time?

Melton wool holds its shape well and won’t stretch out with normal wear, and leather sleeves stretch only slightly as they break in – so order to your actual measurements rather than expecting the jacket to loosen up. If you plan to layer a hoodie or sweater underneath, size up rather than relying on stretch.

How much sizing tolerance is there on a made-to-order jacket?

Because each jacket is cut and sewn individually, minor variation of up to about half an inch can occur between the chart and the finished piece – well within normal garment-making tolerance.

Buying as a gift and not sure of their size?

Email us the recipient’s height and approximate build before you finalize your order – our team can help you land on the right size, and this pairs well with an order through Bulk & Team Orders if it’s part of a group gift.

What if I order the wrong size?

See our Returns, Exchanges & Cancellations FAQ for how we handle sizing issues on made-to-order jackets – reach out before you order if you’re unsure, since that’s always the fastest fix.

My measurements are outside the XS-4XL chart – what are my options?

Use our custom order form or contact us with your measurements, and we’ll build the jacket to fit at no extra charge.

Still not sure? Email info@varsityjacketspro.com with your measurements before ordering – we’re glad to confirm your size.
